Obituary for FRICKE

Marcellus H. Fricke, age 89 of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maria; one son, Mark of Albuquerque; one daughter, Deborah Fricke (Ed Dunlap) of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Jeffrey (Danielle), Juli, David, Shaughn and Frankie; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Luella and Marilyn (Chester) both of Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by one son, Frank in 2000. Marc served his country bravely and proudly for 32 years in the U.S. Army. His work with the American nuclear weapons program took him and his family to far away places such as Germany. They were also stationed in Hawaii, Texas, and Sandia Base in Albuquerque. His service covered three wars; World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He worked at Los Alamos and visited the Trinity Site during those fateful days in 1945 when the first atomic bomb was constructed and detonated. Marc was and is a genuine American hero. Visitation will be held at French - Lomas Chapel on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a rosary following at 6:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2011, 10:00 a.m., at the Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School NE.
