Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday April 03, 2011

Marjorie 1926 - 2011 Marjorie Cannon (nee Brinkman), loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on March 28, 2011. She is survived by her husband, Robert Cannon; her six children Stephen Cannon and wife Lugene, Becky Stevenson and husband Mike, Brian Cannon and wife Debby, Kim Conkwright and husband Jim, Kevin Cannon, Andy Cannon and wife Olga; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Born on a farm in South Dakota, she loved riding horses and playing with her brothers and sisters. Later, her family moved to Lincoln, NE where she spent her teen years and attended the University of Nebraska. She then worked for Braniff Airlines in Dallas and was able to travel to Havana, Cuba, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Lima, Peru. It was while working for the airlines that she met her future husband, Robert, in 1950. Robert was recalled into the Air Force (after having served during WWII), and they were stationed at numerous bases around the world including Tripoli, Libya; Tachikawa, Japan; and Clark Air Base in the Philippines. Upon her husband's retirement from the Air Force in 1970, the couple settled in Albuquerque. Marj worked as a contract specialist for the Veterans Administration, retiring in 1987. After eight years in Albuquerque, they moved out to a ranch in Moriarty where she enjoyed riding horses and where they lived for the next 25 years. They moved back to Albuquerque in 2003. We will truly miss her tremendous capacity for love, compassion, wit, and great sense of humor. In accordance with Marj's wishes, cremation will take place and her ashes spread near her family's homestead in South Dakota.
