Obituary for ELLSWORTH

Betty Lou Ellsworth, 83, resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011. She is survived by her children, Robert Ellsworth and wife Patt, Linda Shoemaker and husband Ken, Jodie Oster and husband Steve, and Susie Cotter and husband Doug; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her grandson Jared Shoemaker, a Marine serving his country, in September 2006. Betty was born on September 23, 1927 in Pennington Gap, VA. She was proud to have been a coal miner's daughter who went on to be a college graduate. She graduated from Lincoln Memorial University in 1948. She moved to New Mexico that same year and raised her family with Howard. Betty was a devoted stay at home mom until her children left home. She volunteered in numerous organizations, including the League of Women Voters and The Assistance League of Albuquerque. Later in life she received great satisfaction working for her son at State Farm Insurance. Her Christian faith is a legacy that will be carried on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Betty will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 1, 2011 at Christ Community Fellowship, 5908 Anaheim Ave, NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113.
