Obituary for HILL

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday March 13, 2011

Donna Robinson Hill passed away peacefully on March 7, 2011. She was preceded in death by Victor Linville Hill, beloved husband of sixty five years, as well as by an infant daughter, her brother, and her sister. Born in Corinth, Kentucky on May 26, 1912 to Dr. O.W. and Lula Pet Robinson, Donna Hill led a life characterized by love of family and friends. After graduating from Asbury College in 1932 with a degree in Latin, Donna earned her Masters' Degree in Primary Education at the University of Kentucky, where she met Vic, who was studying Mining Engineering. They were married in October 1937, with Donna's father, a Methodist minister, performing the ceremony. Vic's work took them to many areas, including Tennessee, California, Wyoming, New Mexico, Canada, and North Dakota. At each home, Donna was active in her community and her church. In addition to teaching several generations of second graders, Donna was president of local AAUW, PTA, and church groups. Her volunteer activities included working for her local ration board during WWII, working with therapy groups, delivering Meals on Wheels, and teaching Sunday School. An avid bridge player and reader who enjoyed crossword puzzles and word games, Donna was inquisitive and appreciative of a good story. Donna Hill loved her family dearly and they always came first in her life. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William R. Hill and Michele Wolfgram, of Prescott, Arizona; her daughter, Vicki Lynn Hill, of Dallas, Texas; her granddaughter, Elizabeth; her future grandson-in-law, Nathan; and her great-grandchildren, Ezra and Lily, of Albuquerque, NM; as well as nieces, nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews around the country. Donna met and kept dear friends all over the county. Everywhere she lived, she became someone people sought out and confided in. She often said, "I love people and I enjoy learning about them." In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Asbury University (1 Macklem Drive, Wilmore, KY, 40390-1198), Hospice Compassus, or the charity of your choice. The family will hold a private memorial service in Kentucky later this year.
