Roena Mason Williams, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, ended her fight victoriously on Tuesday, March 1, 2011. She is survived by her husband, Jack Doyle; daughters, Althea McAneney and Mary Zsigmond and husband, Endre; grandchildren, Vincent McAneney, Andrea Zsigmond and Endre Zsigmond; and many nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren. She was born March 22, 1930 at Plymouth, IN. Roena was the fifth of seven children born to Avis Iden Mason and Ralph Mason of Etna Green, IN. Roena graduated from Etna Green High School in 1948 and attended Indiana University from 1948 to 1951. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She then transferred to the University of New Mexico where she received her degree in 1955. During the summer of 1953, she was a "Harvey Girl" at the Bright Angel Lodge at the Grand Canyon. Roena taught for Albuquerque Public Schools until her retirement in 1984. Cremation has taken place and friends may celebrate Roena's life on Saturday, March 5, 2011, 2:00 p.m., at Monroe's Restaurant, 6501 Osuna Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM. Her cremated remains will be buried at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE. Roena's daughter, Mary, would like to thank her friends at Carlo Inc. and Governor Bent for their love and support during the last few years.
