Ernest "Ernie" Marquez, age 87, a native of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully in his sleep Saturday, February 26, 2011. He was preceded in death by his son, Julian Marquez; step-son, James Romero; brother, Marcos; and sister, Inez. Ernie is survived by his wife of 40 years, Celina; sisters, Josefa, Teresa, Rachel, Rosario; brother, Gabriel; children, Joe, John, James, Jeffrey, Jerome, Jacob, Jess Michael, and David; step-daughter, Gloria; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Ernie was a decorated WWII Veteran, with 20 years service USAF. Friends may visit French - University Location from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2011, a Graveside Service will follow at 2:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011, 11:00 a.m., at Garfield Gospel Chapel, 2406 Garfield SE.
