George Sanchez, Jr., 59, resident of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011. He is survived by his parents, George and Martha Sanchez; sister, Veronica and husband Robert Bernal; brother, Gerald Sanchez and wife Lori; three nieces; four nephews; seven great-nieces; four great-nephews; one great-niece, and numerous extended family members and friends. George proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. After his time with the Navy, George went to work for the State of New Mexico Highway Department. He retired after 20 years of dedicated service. Some of his many hobbies included wood carving, drawing, and playing golf. Friends may visit French ~ Lomas Chapel on Monday, February 28, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at French~ Lomas Chapel on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
