Obituary for HERNANDEZ

Albina M. Hernandez, age 99, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque passed away on Friday, February 11, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmundo G. Hernandez; and two daughters, Dolores A. and Elodia P. Albina is survived by three daughters, Grace Hernandez Fink and husband, Bob, Juliet C. Richardson, and RoseAnn Hernandez; eight grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She began her college education at St. Joseph's on the Rio Grande, formerly, Catholic Teacher's College then transferred to New Mexico A & M. She earned her Master Teacher's Elementary Life Certificate on June 12, 1953, followed by a Master of Arts degree on June 15, 1962, both from the University of New Mexico. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, the Retired Teachers Sorority, as well as a long time parishioner of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, where she was also a member of the choir. Albina enjoyed reading, knitting and traveling. She will be dearly missed. A Memorial Rosary will be held Friday, February 18, 2011, 7:00 p.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5310 Claremont NE. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 19, 2011, 11:30 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.
