Obituary for MCKNIGHT

Patrick McKnight, 71, a resident of Albuquerque since 2002, died Monday, February 7, 2011. He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan McKnight; four children, Susan Decker and husband, Rob, Teresa Grill and husband, Steve, Michael McKnight and wife, Cheri, and Kathleen Jensen and husband, Brooke; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Charlotte Duborg; and many friends in New Mexico and California. Patrick was born on May 14, 1939 in Portland, OR and joined the United States Navy at age 17. He retired from the Navy with 26 years of service as Master Chief of Seal Team One in Coronado, CA. Patrick was awarded the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars for his service in Vietnam. Patrick was an avid sailor and a charter boat captain. From 1996 through 2000, he and his wife Susan operated Bald Eagle Charters in Southeast Alaska. Patrick was a member of the Albuquerque Soaring Club and a Staff Commodore of Coronado Yacht Club. He had a great sense of humor and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at French Mortuary ~ University Chapel, Friday, February 11, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
