Obituary for MARTINEZ

Rita "Adela" Martinez, 56, born in Fairview, NM and a resident of Albuquerque since 1987, went to be with the Lord on February 7, 2011. She was a dedicated school teacher at Carlos Rey Elementary School for the last 23 years. She was a very strong and independent woman who was everybody's shoulder to lean on. Adela was preceded in death by her father, Ferdy Martinez; sister, Mary Helen; niece, Ebony Conner; nephew, Matthew Martinez; and brother-in-law, Jim Conner. She is survived by her mother, Higinia Martinez; brothers, Jim and wife, Dianne, Robert and wife, Margaret and their daughter, Jenny; sisters, Priscilla and Lucille; nieces, Gina and husband, Seth; Erica and companion, Alvin; Adela's great- nieces and nephews, Kortasia, Daryl, Elexus, DeHaven, Ebony, Dallas, and Darius; close family friend, Michael Miller; as well as numerous other family and friends. Rosary, led by Deacon Reuben, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church with the Mass officiated by Father Choong and Deacon Pilar following at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at a later date. We give thanks and praise to our Lord Jesus Christ that Adela is now in His loving hands. We would like to thank the Principal, Judy Toulomis, teachers, staff and students of Carlos Rey Elememtary School for their support, cards, gifts, and loving prayers. We deeply appreciate the Mass offerings by friends. Our thanks go out to the Albuquerque Fire and Police Department, Albuquerque Ambulance, OMI, and French Mortuary personnel who demonstrated kindness and professionalism during this difficult time.
