Fidel Gonzales, age 97, passed away on February 8, 2011 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born to Serafin and Josefita Gonzales in Tijeras, NM. Fidel was a native New Mexican who enjoyed family and friends. He worked for Sandia Labs since 1956 working in the transportation department. He worked there 17 years and retired in April of 1973 and enjoyed 38 years of retirement life and devoted his life to Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church helping as a Eucharist Minister. Fidel is survived by his daughter, Helen Garcia and husband, Willie of Albuquerque, NM, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Fidel is preceded in death by his wife, Ignacita, daughter, Rosella Chavez, and one grandson, Jude Garcia. The Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, Lomas and Tennessee, NE Albuquerque, NM 87108. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church with Father Cimino as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Friday, February 11, 2011 from 6:00p.m. until start of the rosary at the church.
