John A. Whitaker, age 54, beloved husband, father, son, and brother, was called to his heavenly home by the Lord, Friday, January 28, 2011, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Dennison, OH and was a resident of Alameda, where he was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. John enjoyed volunteering during the annual Balloon Fiesta as part of the balloon chase crew and collecting aluminum cans. He also coached Little League Baseball. John is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sadie Whitaker; his precious daughters, Christina, Ericka Whitaker, and Lucianna Garcia; his loving mother, Jeanie Whitaker; his brothers, Frankie, Michael, Steven, and Andrew Whitaker; his sister, Christina Whitaker; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. John will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those whose hearts he touched. A rosary will be recited Wednesday morning at 8:00 a.m., at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, where the Service of Christian Burial will follow at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be at San Carlos Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Michael Aragon, Roger Gallegos, Chris Gallegos, Peter Garcia, Joseph Archibeque, and Luciano Garcia. Honorary Bearers will be John Henry Gurule and Devon Aragon.
