James Allen Harder, 1933-2011. Age 77, a resident of Belen, NM., passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2011. He married his beloved wife Joyce on May 11, 1953. They have lived in the Albuquerque area since, where Jim worked as a building contractor and custom home builder. He was an avid horseman and animal lover who bred and raced thoroughbreds for over 40 years with many successes across the state of New Mexico. Jim was a lifelong athlete, playing varsity football for five years and winning state championships in pole vaulting. He also won awards in recent years as a senior Olympian for shot-put, high jump and discus. Jim is survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Paunice Driskill, Kyle Harder and his wife Robin, Kelly Walters and her husband Gary; grandchildren, Zane Driskill and his wife Natalia, Garret Harder, Rawlin Harder, Corbin Walters, Kensington Walters, Garrison Walters; great-grandchildren, Xavier and Jayden Driskill; brothers, Norman and his wife Vicki and Bryan and his wife Shannon and very special friends Bill and Pinky Meier. A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, 418 W Reinken Ave. with the family to receive friends at 10:30 AM.
