Obituary for TUBBS

Lucy P. Tubbs passed away peacefully on January 14, 2011, after a short illness in Austin, Texas. She was surrounded by her daughter Kathy Bonardi from Round Rock, and son David Tubbs from Houston. Lucy was born June 6, 1932, grew up in Peralta with her parents Pauline and Pedro Gurule, siblings Johnnie, Ismael, Patty and Cecile. On June 1, 1953 she was married to Jimmie Tubbs, who served 20 years in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, their travels took them to many locations including; Biloxi, Mississippi, Sacramento, California, and three years in Madrid, Spain. They returned to Albuquerque when Jimmie retired from the Air Force. While in Albuquerque, Lucy was a dedicated registrar for over 25 years in the Albuquerque School System, at Albuquerque High School and then Manzano High School. After she and Jimmie retired, they built a house in Peralta where they thought they would live out their retirement. As God would have it, Jimmie passed on September 2, 1994. In October 2003 Lucy relocated to Texas to be near her children. She enjoyed her new home in Round Rock near Kathy. While David and his family were a short distance down the road in Houston. In the seven years she lived in Texas, she enjoyed many of the sights of the Hill Country and was always willing to go on new adventures. Some of her interests included tending to her rose garden, visiting the local wineries, reading and keeping up on current events. She also enjoyed the visits from her grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She attended the high school graduations of her four grandchildren, as well as two college graduations. She is survived by daughter Kathy, son- in- law Bob, and her son David, daughter- in- law Kathryn. Also her grandchildren Erica and husband Chuck, their children, Jacob and Kaitlyn Armstrong and Lindsey, Matthew and Aimee Tubbs. She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmie, parents, Pauline and Pedro, brother Ismael and sister Patty. She will be deeply missed by all.
