ELIZA 76, passed away Friday, January 21, 2011 at her home in Albuquerque surrounded by her children and family. Mrs. Barela was born to Antonio and Emma Garley on June 1, 1934 in Torreon, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Joseph, daughter-in-law Elisa Barela and four brothers, Boycito, Ray, Tony and Albert. She was a homemaker and self-employed business owner with her husband Ray. She was a life-long Catholic. Eliza is survived by her husband Ray and 10 children,Ray Barela Jr. and wife Isabelle of Tajique, Rosemary Castillo and husband Willie of Albuquerque, Emma Kirkpatrick and husband Russell of Albuquerque, Richard Barela and Peggy Chavez of Tajique, Della Tapia and husband Ray of Tajique, Joseph Barela who preceded her in death in 2005, Tommy Barela and wife Jessica of Tajique, Gloria Lucero and husband Johnny of Albuquerque, Michael Barela of Tajique, Daniel Barela and wife Audrey of Albuquerque, and Eliza Romero and husband Michael of Tajique.And 30 grandchildren, Ray III, Andres, and Francesca Barela. Marvin, Melvin, Alex and Camy Rose Castillo. Jayme Lujan and Michele Salas. Linnae, Richard and Lucia Barela. Reydelle Shelland and Del Rey Sena. Melanie, Monica and Jessica Barela. Demari and Meghan Lucero. Veronica, Antonio, Angelica Barela, Elizabeth Sisneroz and Christina Gonzalez . Daniel Jr., Marcus, Jeremy and Kristyn Barela. James and Raquel Romero. And also 14 great-grandchildren.She is also survived by her sisters, Andrea, Vivian, Lillian, Grace and Terry and her brothers, Eloy and Larry Garley.A Rosary service is scheduled at 7:00 P.M., Monday, January 24, 2011 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Albuquerque.The funeral mass will be conducted at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday January 25, 2011 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Albuquerque with burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Albuquerque.
