Obituary for POWELL

Jerry Powell Sr., age 70, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque joined his wife, Carroll in Heaven on Wednesday, January 12, 2011. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Carroll; sister, Carolyn Card; and father, Henry Powell. He is survived by his mother, Mary; siblings, Jack and Barbara; children, JC and Kristy; daughter-in-law, Leann; grandsons, Troy and Ryan; sister-in-law, Linda; nephews, Rick and Ed; and niece, Jacque; and numerous other family members and friends who loved him dearly. Jerry attended Valley High School, then served proudly in the US Navy. He retired from Sandia Labs as a diesel mechanic. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his family. He was a member of the NRA and the NMMRA, specifically team owner of Powell Racing. Jerry was an avid coin and lighter collector. He was a dog lover. He was also a loving and caring family man, and a loyal friend with a great sense of humor. Jerry was a creative fabricator and welder. He believed in and had faith in Jesus, his Lord and Savior. He was a great man who will be dearly missed. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, 1:00 p.m., at Chester T.
