Carl Heldenbrand, 87, passed away December 19, 2010. He was born October 3, 1923 in Winston, Missouri to John and Edith Heldenbrand. Upon graduating from high school in Langdon, Kansas he joined the Navy serving our country during World War II onboard the USS Childs. Dad, we thank you for your service. He married Lois in 1950 she preceded him in death in 2009. Carl missed her dearly, but is reunited with her today. They spent their lives together enjoying each other and giving themselves to help others, whether it was being Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus or volunteering at the VA hospital or just taking the time to listen and talk to someone in need. Dad will always be remembered for loving his garden and especially growing his tomatoes. He loved children and we all will remember him always being on the floor wrestling around and having a good time with them. He retired from Sutherland Lumber in 1987. Carl is now reunited with those who preceded him, his wife Lois; his son Curtis; his brother Ralph; sister, Arlene, and his daughter in law, Gina. Surviving him are his son, Edward; his grandchildren, Valerie Bowden, Jon Heldenbrand and wife Kara and Casey Heldenbrand; along with his great-grandchildren, Taylor and James Bowden and Kadence and Lily Heldenbrand; his brothers, Gene of Hutchinson, Kansas, Paul of El Reno, Oklahoma; and his wonderful friend Ruby Parmalee. A special thank you to the VA hospital and staff for the wonderful care Carl received over the years and to Mary, his home health nurse who gave him loving care. Carl was a member of the Masonic Lodge, VFW and American Legion. Memorial service will be Thursday January 20, 2011 at 3:00 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, Wyoming Chapel. Interment will be Friday January 21, 2011 at 10:30 at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
