Virginia "Gina" M. Serna, 65, resident of Albuquerque, passed away at her home surrounded by family on Sunday, January 9, 2011. She is survived by her loving husband, Chris; children, Brenda Pacheco and husband Al, Christopher M. Serna, Rebecca Serna, Gino Serna, and Veronica Serna; sisters, Marylou Lane, Dolores Vigil, and Christina Apodaca; sisters-in-law, Frances Gonzales and Benny Armijo, Liz Alvarado and husband John, Eloisa Austin and George Goodkin; brothers-in-law, Anthony Serna and wife Monica, and Joseph Serna and wife Sharon; aunt's, Ida Pacheco and Angie Martinez and husband Manuel, Joann Serna, and Loraine Serna; 16 nieces; nine nephews; and many extended family members. Gina was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Josephine Sandoval; and her mother-in-law, Maria Aurelia Serna. Gina quickly became a friend to everyone she met. She had a talent for remembering and recognizing everyone's birthday. Gina will always be remembered as the backbone of the family. She always saw the good in everyone, and always had a kind word. Friends may visit French ~ Lomas Chapel, on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., at Shrine of St. Bernadette 11401 Indian School Rd NE.
