Obituary for SWANSON

Raymond Francis Swanson, originally from Chicago, IL, age 87, passed away December 29, 2010 in Albuquerque, NM. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy nee McCabe; devoted children, Dr. Frances (Rob) May and Meg (Scott) Christenson; loving grandchildren, Paul R. Martello and Gina (Zach) Cormier, and loving in-laws Carol and Gene Rados. He was the beloved uncle of 14 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Florence Swanson; and by his brother, Louis R. Swanson. He was a member of the Greatest Generation and also a proud officer in the 15th Air Force, 463rd Bombardment Group, 775th Bomb Squadron. He was a highly decorated veteran of WWII and a former POW; liberated from Stalag VIIA, Moosburg, Germany. He was a teacher in Chicago for over 35 years. He will live forever in our hearts as our hero. Services will be held Monday, January 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM.
