Obituary for GILES

Glyn M. Giles, 82, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2011, at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born September 8, 1928 to Azora McMahan Giles and Samuel Edward Giles in Heflin, Alabama. He was preceded in death by both his parents; two brothers; and four sisters. Glyn graduated from Cleburne County High School in 1946. He had great love for his friends and classmates in Heflin, Alabama. After serving two years in the 43rd Division of the US Army, Glyn and his wife Eugenia moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1953. He attended Jacksonville State Teachers College in Alabama and the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. He entered the real estate business in Albuquerque in 1954 and operated the Glyn Giles and Associates Real Estate for 40 years. He was president of the Albuquerque Board of Realtors in 1963, and president of the Realtors Association of New Mexico in 1969. Realtor of the year of the Realtors Association of New Mexico in 1973, and served three years on the Board of Realtors for the National Association of Realtors in Chicago, IL. Glyn was a realtor, builder and rancher. He built and managed numerous projects in Albuquerque and Florida during his active years. He gave up his realtors license in 2006, but re-instated his license in 2008, because he said that his success was due to the real estate business and he felt lost without his license #964. Glyn is survived by his wife of 60 years Eugenia J. Giles; his daughter Glenda Giles Morris; granddaughter Mary Jane Morris; his son Paul B. Giles; and grandson P. Barclay Giles, Barclays fiance Misty Teater and her son McKenzie Bushaw. Glyn loved his family and extended family of in-laws, and nieces and nephews. The Jack Giles family of Gainesville, FL; the Jollays, Buissons and Couch's of Atlanta, GA; the Vaughans, Giles and McMahans of Heflin and Birmingham, AL; the Tollesons of Alabama and Georgia; the Barclays' and Mindaks of Alabama and Florida; and the Johnsons of Albertville, AL. Glyn has been cremated according to his wishes and a private family service has been held in his honor. A memorial is planned on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the Four Hills Country Club at 11:00 a.m. All friends are invited to attend.
