Josephine Roberta Ashe "Josi" Josephine Roberta Ashe, loving daughter, sister, mother and friend to all who said "Goodbye" to her on December 28, 2010, after a five year battle with breast cancer. Josi was born on September 10, 1964 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Albuquerque. She is survived by her son Maverick Kirk; parents, Ray and Elizabeth Ashe; brothers, Kenn And Thomas Ashe; and nephews, Alexander and Brian Ashe. She attended elementary school at Queen of Heaven where she made many of the friends she has today. She was a cheerleader and a shortstop for the Streakers at Altamont during her High School years. After graduating from St. Pius in 1980, she attended UNM and earned a BA in HR Management. After college, Josi worked as HR manager for John Q. Hammond Hotels for over ten years, but it still could not keep her away from her love of Natural and Oriental Medicine. After much soul searching she enrolled at Southwest Acupuncture College and graduated valedictorian of her class. After graduation, she started her own practice with other healers, but was forced because of her illness to close the clinic at the beginning of this year. Never one to remain idle or unproductive, she started to work part-time at CNM as a cashier in the Student Services Center. Her own determination kept her working until the first week in December. Join us in blessing her new life with a Rosary and a Mass in honor of Josi Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 1:00 p.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community 7701 Wyoming Blvd NE. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to: UNM Cancer Center Development Office MSC07 - 1 University of New Mexico Albuquerque, NM 87131-0001
