Obituary for GARDUNO

Guadalupe "Lupe" Garduno began a new chapter of life on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 after a ten year valiant struggle with Parkinson's disease. He was born June 9, 1936 in Chaperito, New Mexico. Guadalupe honorably and proudly served his country in the US Army and retired after 24 years. He received two Bronze Medals for courageous acts during the Vietnam conflict. During his military career, Guadalupe traveled extensively and met his lovely wife Ursula while stationed in Germany; they recently celebrated 53 years of marriage. In addition to his devoted wife Ursula; he is survived by his brothers, Henry (Celeste), Carlos (Alice), John (Robin), Martin and Lee (Robin); his sisters, Adeline (Augustine), Rose (Bonnie) and Angie (Jeff); his children, Helene Dobbins (Joseph), James and Thomas (Catherine), and Katherina Garduno; his grandchildren, Robert (Chelsea), Annette, Sierra, Christopher, Joseph (Ashley), Benjamin, Rebecca, Sean, Alexandra and Christopher; his great-grandchildren, Christiana, Angelina and Parker Ann; his adopted mother, Rosine Garduno; his extended family members and countless friends the world over. Guadalupe loved to return to his beloved Chaperito where as a boy he learned to fish and hunt. He enjoyed numerous hunting and fishing trips with his sons and friends, Jesse, Andrew, Robert and Harold. Guadalupe is preceded in death by his mother Eugenia Montano, his adopted father, Adolpho Garduno, his mother-in-law, Helene Halberstadt, sister-in-law, Gertrud Halberstadt and his son-in-law, Marty Metoyer. A Celebration of Life service will be at Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., at French ~ Wyoming Chapel. Inurnment will be at 3:00 pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM.
