Obituary for DILLON

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday November 21, 2010

Maurice Malcolm Dillon, "Mac", died on November 18th , 2010. Almost 88 years ago, on December 22, 1922 he was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was the last living person of his immediate family. Mr. Dillon is survived by five children; Ruffner, Adrienne, Michelle, Trina, and Tom. His beloved son, Tim died in 2009. He is survived by 7 grandchildren; Michael, Heather, Kirk, Brenda, Melissa, Sabrina, and Gregory. He was blessed with four great-grandchildren; Destiny, Dante and Brandon. Although Mac and his second wife Ruth legally separated years ago, they remained friends who cared deeply about each other. Maurice was a graduate of UCLA, with a degree in physics. Passionate all his life about science, he believed in education and modeled life-long learning. He loved classical music and beautiful voices such as The Three Tenors. He fiercely loved his family and one of his strongest desires was for his children to be happy and healthy. Although he didn't like to be called, "stubborn", he was a man who exemplified the words in the Frank Sinatra song, "My Way". All who knew "Mac" knew he was a ferocious believer in the United States Constitution. Mac tried to make his country a better place by being a good honest citizen. He never used bad language. One of the reasons for his long life is that he took care of his health. He exercised regularly, took vitamins, never smoked a cigarette or drank alcohol or even coffee! Maurice Dillon loved New Mexico and chose to be buried at Fairview Memorial Park, since many of his relatives, including his parents, whom he adored, and grandparents were laid to rest in this lovely cemetery. He was a veteran of WWII and his remains will be among other veterans. Private family services will be held. Those who wish to express condolences may do so at www.danielsfuneral.com.
