Rose Benjamin Koppel (Resi), age 99, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 in the wake of a stroke. Born a Jew in Cologne Germany, on November 5, 1911, to Adele and Albert Benjamin, she emigrated to the US in 1938, escaping Nazi persecution. She married Edward Gabriel Koppel on January 5, 1943, in New York City, before moving to New Orleans. There, Rose worked in military, the weather bureau, and Tulane University. Known for her feistiness and joi de vivre, she is survived by Gail, Richard and TJ Womack of Albuquerque, Ellen Baker of Australia and Beverly Claire Sirois of New York, as well as many friends throughout the world. There will be a memorial service at the Womack residence, at 10709 Santa Monica Dr NE (use Browning St) on November 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.
