Obituary for HERRERA

Matthew David Herrera, May 19, 1988-November 10, 2009. 1 Thes 4:13-18 Dear Matthew, It has already been one year since you have left us. We remember it as if it was yesterday. I look around I see people with smiles on their faces. Yet the smile on our faces is just to get us through the day. We all pray that you are at peace and we pray that somehow God makes this bearable. I know now that there are unanswered prayers because even with our faith life will never be the same without you. Our hearts are broken in two our joy went with you on this day one year ago November 10th. Spring has passed Grandma DoDo's roses and lilacs have all bloomed and passed. Nana's house still smells of fresh beans and her tortillas. Sister still has her pretty smile, now only to cover up her tears; wondering why her brother left her alone with only sweet childhood memories you both once shared. She still asks "Why". Her dreams of her children and your children growing up together are now gone, only questions remain. Ashlynn still wonders why her Uncle Matt isn't here to give her a hug. This summer she looked for you on mountain tops. Your Dad waits for you to come home, sometimes calling your name. Aunties and Uncles miss you too. This fall Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Carol's hot air balloon went up without you. His heart was broken because he promised you a spot. Fall is here again the leaves are changing and falling. We try to hear your whisper; we look over our shoulders but you're not there. We look at our wrist to see your name on a grey "In Memory Band" only wanting for the day we will all walk hand in hand. For now sweet Matthew our "Potato" just sleep, we will all be there soon. Love Mom
