Obituary for DAVIS

Mary L., resident of Albuquerque for 55 years, died on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at the age of 79 in Hendersonville, TN. She was born January 11, 1931 Villaridge, IL. She married Robert Dean "Bob" Davis on July 11, 1948 and he survives her in Hendersonville. In addition to her husband of 62 years she is survived by three sons, Larry Davis and wife, Dorothy of Albuquerque, NM, Randal D. Davis of Hendersonville, TN and Rick Davis of Albuquerque, NM; two sisters, Leona Donley of San Diego, CA and Jean Cook of Belen, NM; four grandchildren, Candice L. Stevens and husband Mike of Central City CO, Tamara Davis of Albuquerque, NM, Travis D. Davis of Hendersonville and Robert William Davis of Albuquerque; four great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Lillian Howell, Ida Biggs, Murtle Dietz and Broxie Mae Hart and a brother, Raymond Buttler. Mary moved to Alb. in 1952. In 1960 she began her career as a cosmetologist. In 1977 she developed a job prep, self-improvement program for the Albuquerque Skills Center. Despite her profound hearing loss she did a wonderful job of motivating disadvantaged students to help them obtain employment. In 1986 she moved to the city of Albuquerque Crime Prevention Program and created a new program to help disabled citizens. She continued in this program until she retired in 1993. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at 3:00 p.m., in the Presidential Suite at the Tamaya Resort.
