-Doris L. Thomas, 95, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Vista Grande Nursing Home in Cortez, CO. Doris was the daughter of Dr. Milford Leach and wife Pauline. She was born on June 5, 1915 in Clifford, MI. Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, CWO Arthur W. Thomas USAF (Ret.). The couple resided for many years at Kirtland AFB. Doris is survived by her daughter, Diane Moore and husband, Earl; niece, Jerelyn Eisenberg; and many other nieces and nephews. In her early years, Doris attended Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, and Milwaukee State Teachers College. During WWII, she worked as a secretary at Bombardier Headquarters, Kirtland AFB, and later as a secretary at the Elementary School at Elmendorf AFB, AK. She also worked at the University of New Mexico. During their retirement years, Doris and her husband were happily occupied in breeding and showing champion Great Pyrenees dogs.
