Mary Helen (Gibbs) Martinez, 80, died Saturday, September 18, 2010 in Albuquerque. Mary Helen was born March 21, 1930 in Madrid, New Mexico. She was the daughter of Maria Petrona (Borrego) Gibbs and Charles Edward Gibbs. She was the sister of Alice Thompson, Patricia Kuper, Robert Gibbs and Charles Gibbs, all of Albuquerque. Mary Helen was married to Manual A. Martinez for 55 years until his death in 2001. Along with her husband, Marty, Mary Helen owned and operated Central Dental Lab in Albuquerque until their retirement in 1996. Mary Helen is survived by her children, Alice Ann Rice and her husband, Tim of Albuquerque, Christopher James Martinez and his wife, Karen of Albuquerque and Jean Marie Duck and her husband, Michael of Springdale, AR; grandchildren, Kathryn Rice of Seattle, WA, Lisa Rice of Allen, TX, Michelle Duck and Steven Duck, both of Lubbock, TX, C.J. Martinez of New York, NY, and Loren Martinez and Jordan Martinez, both of Albuquerque. Mass of Christian Burial and entombment will be held at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE, on Saturday, September 25, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Montgomery Blvd. NE, Suite 300, Albuquerque, NM 87111.
