Obituary for GOODRICH

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday September 24, 2010

Greta Goodrich, 79, went home to the Lord on Sunday, September 19, 2010 in Albuquerque, NM after a short illness. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Ron; son, John Goodrich and wife Anna; daughter, Stephanie Jorgensen; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her four-legged daughter, Ling. Greta was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Goodrich. She was born in Oklahoma, later moving to Albuquerque where she met Ron, the love of her life at an Albuquerque High School basketball game. Her family was the delight of her life! Greta loved to travel, including trips to Spain, Greece, China, Mexico, Alaska, Costa Rica, Germany, Israel, Austria and Italy. She was a Pi Phi at UNM and involved with the Garden Club and Home Builder's Association in Santa Fe. She was a realtor in Santa Fe for many years, with Ron building the homes, and Greta selling them for Goodrich Builders! Greta also loved to volunteer her time, teaching children to read at Hubert Humphrey Elementary School in Albuquerque. Her hobbies included needlepoint, sewing, beaded jewelry, leaded glass, antique collecting, and exploring garage sales. Her family will really miss her cooking, especially her green chile enchiladas! Now someone else can win at the family card games and Ron can tell HIS version of the stories! Memorial services will be held to celebrate Greta's new life with the Lord and her daughter, Susan, on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, 7550 Eubank NE, 87122. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Greta's name to the Arizona Transplant House Foundation, Inc. Village of Mayo, 5811 East Mayo Blvd. Phoenix, AZ 85054.
