John J. Connolly, 86, a lifetime resident of New Mexico passed away September 19, 2010. He is survived by daughters, Linda Domier and husband Curt of Rio Rancho, NM (who lovingly cared for him until the time of his death), Susan Pate and husband Charles of Jemez Springs, NM; son, Michael Connolly of Santa Fe, NM; step-daughter, SueAnna Black and family of California; step-sons, Bill Black and family of Georgia; Jim Kennedy of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Pat Connolly and family of Los Alamos, NM, Christine Dillinger and husband Will of Rio Rancho, Charles Domier and family of Rio Rancho, NM; numerous great- grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ann Burwinkle and husband Joe of Albuquerque, NM; sister-in-laws, Gloria Connolly of Pleasant Hills, CA, Shirley VanSickle of Grants, NM; numerous nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; parents, Charles Coleman and Margaret Patricia (Kern) Connolly; son, Patrick; brothers, Daniel and Charles. He was born in Roswell, NM March 9, 1924. They moved to Sapello and then later to Las Vegas, NM until the family moved to Albuquerque, NM around 1938 where John and his brothers attended St. Mary's until he left to serve in the U.S. Army in Burma during WWII. After the war he attended UNM and later went to work for the State Highway Department where he worked for over 35 years. John and his wife, Joyce moved to Grants in the mid 1970's where he had a home until the time of his death. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2010, Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Road Chapel, 4310 Sara Road SE, (located inside Vista Verde Memorial Park), Rio Rancho, NM.
