Augustine G. Tapia , 85, of Albuquerque, beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2010, while surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in New Mexico, Mr. Tapia proudly served his country during WWII , in the 346th infantry company, United States Army. He was preceded in death by his loving wife , Antonia Tapia; and son-in-law Richard Lucero. Augustine is survived by his loving family, children, Tillie Lucero, Charlotte (Raymond) Thomen, Larry(Isabel) Tapia and Leonard (Norma) Tapia; grandchildren, Richard Lucero , Carmelita Lucero, Alicia Tapia, Abran Tapia( Margo Padilla) and Gabriela Tapia; great-grandchildren, Isabel Gurule and Scarlet Tapia; sisters, Eva (Raymond) Casias and Eleanor Barreras. He will be greatly missed by his family and by those whose hearts he touched. Visitation will be held 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary Church, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., on Wednesday , September 22, 2010, also at the church, followed by an internment in Vista Verde Memorial Park , in Rio Rancho.Casket Bearers will be , Ron Gutierrez, Albert Barreras, Richard Lucero, Mark Casias, David Mendoza , and Richard Jojola . Honorary Bearers will be Leo Griego and Bill Manning. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to those who helped care for Mr. Tapia with compassion during his illness, especially Vista Care Hospice and their Staff .
