Obituary for SMITH

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Saturday September 11, 2010

Charles Wayne Smith passed away in early September, aged 53. He was preceded in death by his parents, B.E. and Marguerite and is survived by older brother James A. and wife Vicki, of Albuquerque; older sister Cheryl Walstrom and husband Chuck of Rio Rancho; and a twin sister, Wanda Sanders and husband John of Dumas, Texas. Charles was born, raised and mostly lived in Albuquerque for all of his life, leaving by choice only to serve in the Navy. In his later years, he worked for Cliff's Amusement Park, bowled and visited his "mountain retreat" near El Vado as often as he could. Everyone who knew him loved his gentle soul and quick smile. He was quick to help, always smiling and loved his 49ers. A memorial gathering will be held in the chapel of Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper NE at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, September 13, 2010. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Eagle's Wings Youth Ranch, P.O. Box 465, Mountainair NM, 87036.
