Obituary for GONZALES

Ely (Joaquin Elias) Gonzales died peacefully in his sleep and went to be with the Lord Sunday, August 29, 2010. Ely was born March 26, 1948, in Alameda to Natividad and Tomasita Gonzales. He graduated from Valley High School in 1966. After graduation, he enlisted in the USAF and served honorably in the Viet Nam War. He married his high school sweetheart, Anita Archuleta on July 8, 1967. Ely retired from Public Service Co. of NM after 31 years of Service. He was very involved in his church and served in many leadership roles. Ely was a loving husband, devoted father, adoring grandfather, and will always be remembered as someone who always loved helping others, and made a difference in people's lives. He loved telling stories that made people laugh. Ely is survived by Anita, his loving wife of 43 years; son, David Gonzales; daughter, Natalie Ulibarri and husband Daniel; daughter-in-law, Deirdre Candelaria Peer; grandchildren, Steven, Stephanie, Lori, Serina, Preston, Grant, and Andrew; sisters, Angie Targa, and Janice LouAnn Espinosa and husband Richard; mother-in-law, Bennie Archuleta; brothers and sisters in law, Lorenzo Archuleta, Mary Fajardo, Catie Archuleta and Doris Butler. He was preceded in death by his sister, Saddie Armijo, and brothers in law, Phillip and Ralph Archuleta. A funeral service will be held at Family Worship Center, 7311 Glenrio Rd NW, on Thursday, September 2, 2010, at 10:30 a.m., with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 PM.
