Florencio G. Sandoval, a life-time rancher of San Ysidro, NM, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010. Florencio was born in La Jara, NM, to Francisco and Nemesina Sandoval on April 27, 1918. Florencio proudly served in the Army during WWII. Florencio served his community as Mayor, Fireman, and Mayordomo of the acequia and was a member of the San Diego Mission Catholic Parish. Mr. Sandoval is survived by Sr. Ancilla; nieces, Dolores Hobson, Edith Thompson, Joanne Savarese and Doris German. Mr. Sandoval was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph. A Rosary will be held at San Ysidro Catholic Church, San Ysidro, NM, on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., at the Church. Interment will follow at the Sandoval Family Cemetery, San Ysidro, NM. Pallbearers will be Dick Hobson, Henry Perea, David Lucero, Guadalupe Trujillo, Riestie Sandoval, and Phil Ramsey. Honorary pallbearers will be James Montoya, Ernest Montoya and Fritz Valdez. Mr. Sandoval will be remembered and loved by all who were privileged to have known him.
