Billie Ann Lamb Johnson, 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 22, 2010. Billie was a resident of Albuquerque since 1956. She was born on December 11, 1921 in Perryton, Texas, the oldest of five children. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Larry Johnson; as well as her four children: Jerri Watts [late husband Jack], Judy Riley (husband Jim), Fred Johnson (wife Rita), and Phil Johnson (wife Janelle). She played an essential role in the lives of her five grandchildren Dawn Washington (husband James), Greg Miller (wife Lesley), Ryan McClanahan (wife Liz), Jennice Johnson (fiancee Marley), and Jay Kory Johnson (wife Kristen); as well as seven great-grandchildren Dianna, Austin, Clayton, Chandler, Chase, Maya, and Ewan; She is survived by one sister, Peggy Herrmann of Amarillo, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence W. and Regina C. Lamb; and siblings, Betty Wilson, Nora Jean Baker, and Jim Lamb. She served a six-month tour during WWII in the Women's Auxiliary Air Corp. She met Larry during her service tour at a USO dance in Amarillo. As the loving mother of an active family, she always ensured that there was a hot meal waiting for her family after they returned from a day on the ski slopes or other recreational outings. Larry, an avid runner and cyclist, could always count on her as his own personal "pit crew" throughout training and many competitions. Later in life, she was an avid volunteer and bird-watcher, and loved being with her family. She will always be remembered as a loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother. A memorial service celebrating Billie's life will take place on Thursday, August 26, 2010 in Fellowship Hall of First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust Street NE at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev.
