Louise Powell, 97, died Friday, July 30, 2010, after a long and full life. She was born July 29, 1913, in Belen, NM, to Librada Aragon Tafoya and Julian Tafoya. She was preceded in death by her parents; and seven brothers and sisters. A life-long New Mexico resident, she was married July 18, 1942, to Fred J. Powell, her husband of 50 years, who also preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Marcy Smith and husband Daryl; grandson, Michael Earnest and wife Terri; granddaughter, Kelly Earnest; grandson, Brian Earnest; and great-grandchildren: Frederick Earnest, Jacob Earnest, Billie Rose Earnest, and Emerson Johnson. Services will be held Monday, August 2, 2010, at French - Westside Chapel, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Lemitar Cemetery, Lemitar, NM. Viewing will take place Sunday, August 1, 2010, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at French-Westside Chapel. We are grateful for the loving care she received from staff and friends at Autumn Glow.
