Obituary for SALAZAR

Ana Maria Salazar, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2010, at her home in Albuquerque, NM, with her family by her side. She was 89 years old, born Ana Maria Araiza on September 21, 1920, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. She married Ignacio Salazar in 1945 and gave birth to eleven children during their marriage. She and Ignacio raised their children in northern Mexico until approximately 1968, when they moved to Grants, NM, in search of a better life for their children. She made Grants, NM her beloved home until her children moved her to Albuquerque, NM in 1998. Ana Maria loved the many friends she made over the years, but her pride and joy were her faith in the lord and her love for her family. She possessed an unwavering faith and she absolutely loved being mother and grandmother. She had an endearing sense of humor that she maintained until the very end. Ana Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Ana Maria Araiza; husband, Igancio Salazar; daughter, Proxy Lucero; grandchildren, David Tapp and Ignacio Saavedra; sister, Guillermina Sejudo-Araiza; and brother, Ramiro Araiza. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Lupe and Bob Dutcher of Grants, NM; son and daughter-in-law, Ignacio and Mary Salazar of Albuquerque, NM; son and daughter-in-law, Angel and Mary Salazar of Roswell, NM; daughter and son-in-law, Susana and Reber Boult of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Ana Maria Salazar of Las Cruces, NM; daughter Teresa Salazar of Torreon, Couahila, Mexico; daughter and son-in-law, Rosa and David Tapp of Corinth, MS; daughter and son-in-law, Lorenza and George Aho of Roswell, NM; daughter and son-in-law, Guilla and Tom Minnick of Grants, NM; son and daughter-in-law, Jesus and Pia Salazar of Albuquerque, NM; step daughter Blanca Arias of Juarez, Chi., Mexico; and step son and wife, Joe and Nancy Salazar of Placitas, NM. Ana Maria is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she very much loved and by her sisters and brother in Guadalajara, Torreon, and Hermosillo, Mexico. Ana Maria was an angel in the lives of her children and the rock that anchored her large family. She was very much loved and will be dearly missed. A rosary will be held Sunday, July 25, 2010, 5:00 p.m., at French - University Chapel with visitation starting at 4:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated Monday, July 26, 2010, 10:30 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper NW.
