Obituary for DOUGHTY

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday July 18, 2010

Betty Jeanette Doughty went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, July 16, 2010. Jeanette, age 71, was born in Omaha, Nebraska on November 8, 1938. She later moved with her father, mother and sister to Tucson, AZ. While in Tucson, in 1970, she married her husband of 40 years John R. Doughty, Sr. From there she moved with her husband and children to New Mexico, Virginia and California. Jeanette and her husband returned to the Albuquerque area in 1988, shortly after they spent a year in Israel. Jeanette was preceded in death by her father and mother Thomas and Betty Smith, her sister; Marion Phillips; and one grandchild; Melissa Joy Doughty. She is survived by her husband John R. Doughty, Sr.; her six children, Kathy Froiseth and her husband Dave, Marc Sandburg and his wife Debbie, John R. Doughty, Jr. and his wife Brenda, Denise Smith and her husband Hugh, Rick Doughty and his wife Nancy, Dawn Sanchez and her husband Dan; her 14 grandchildren, Krista Duff, Justin Froiseth, Kristen Doughty, Andrew Doughty, Rebecca Smith, Sarah Austmann, Grace Wayne, Ashley Doughty, Amanda Doughty, Andrew Sanchez, Matthew Sanchez, Bethany Rinderknecht, Hannah Sanchez, Ryan Sanchez; her five great-grandchildren; and her nephews, Kenneth Clemens, Douglas Clemens and Dennis Phillips. She also enjoyed the privilege and honor of being both a mother and grandmother to other families. She also enjoyed taking pictures. Many times you would hear her say, 'Dear, Where's the camera? We have to get a picture of this.' Jeanette was a homemaker for most of her life. She graduated from Tucson High School and later from Albuquerque Bible College with a A.A. with distinction. One of her greatest joys was doing and leading Bible studies and she enjoyed sharing the insights that the Lord Jesus had given her on a subject. She and her warm smile will be greatly missed by both her family and friends. Family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at French, 9300 Golf Course Rd.
