Santiago "Jimmy" ROMERO, Jr. age 99 passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010. Santiago was born on May 1, 1911 in Puerto De Luna, New Mexico, USA. He was the son of Santiago Romero Sr. and Anastasia Chavez Romero. During World War II Santiago worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad in Vaughn, NM. He was a carpenter, an electrician and a horse trainer. His gardens were prolific and his love for his children and grandchildren was never ending. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mercedes Gallegos and Paublita Moncayo. Santiago is survived by his beloved wife Candelaria Chavez Romero; seven children: daughter Glorya Romero-Tschabold; son Buddy Romero and wife Mary; son Richard Romero and wife Mary; daughter Angie Kipp, son Jimmy Romero; daughter Barbara Romero; and daughter Liz Romero; He had 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Catholic Rosary and Mass were held Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Albuquerque, NM. Private interment will take place at a later date in Vaughn, NM. Cremation arrangements were provided by Riverside Funeral Home.
