Obituary for MURRAY

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday July 11, 2010

Scott Murray June 16, 1945 - April 27, 2010 With courage, optimism, a sense of humor and the devotion of his caregivers, Scott nearly reached his goal of living to the age of 65. That was 20 years longer than any doctor predicted! During those years he never saw obstacles, only opportunities. After graduating from Texas Tech he served ten years as a pilot in the USAF, flew for Braniff airlines and later began Scott Murray Custom Clothier in Albuquerque, NM. Scott was very involved in the arts, especially the Southwest Arts and Crafts Festival. He was passionate about promoting artists and greatly admired their creativity and talent. He was proud to live in Albuquerque and for many years supported the community through Kiwanian service projects. If you knew Scott well, you know he savored new experiences and activities. Among his many adventures, we will remember his hang-gliding, Chinese cooking classes, running the Albuquerque marathon, monoskiing and his solo cross-country car trip to the Smithsonian museums. When he was no longer able to participate in physical endeavors, he played duplicate bridge, worked the daily crossword puzzle, read voraciously and perused his stamp collection. Scott loved good food, fine wine, old port and on special occasions caviar. He enjoyed a party and hearing good jokes. Dianne, Matt and Ashley invite you to celebrate his life at the Sheraton Albuquerque Uptown from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on July 31, 2010. Let us know if you can join us at Murrayabq@gmail.com.
