Obituary for HENDRICKS

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Thursday May 27, 2010

Opal L. Hendricks passed away peacefully on Monday, May 24, 2010, at the age of 93. Opal was not only an accomplished artist but an avid golfer, square dancer and past President of the Cosmopolitan Women's Club not to mention, grand bridge player and a fine pianist as well. Opal was a loving mother to her two sons, Lee and Gary, a loyal sister to Wanda and a true friend. She is also survived by numerous family, friends, and her two adopted grandsons, Danny and Jesse. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, J. L. Hendricks. Her uncanny wit, with a little wisdom thrown in, made her a person you never got enough of. Special thank-you to the nurses and doctors at Vista Care, Lovelace, and her at-home caregivers, your kindness was appreciated. Friends may visit French-Wyoming Blvd. Chapel Thursday, May 27, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Services will be held at French, Friday, May 28, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. with interment to follow at Sandia Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive guests at Opal's home following the burial. Hole-in-one Opal, we will miss you!
