Margaret (Eckert) Cornell, 91, a native of Santa Fe, NM, died Sunday, May 9, 2010, in Albuquerque. She is survived by daughters Mary Cornell of Albuquerque, NM, Grace (Larry) Luper of Tequesta, FL, and Johanna (Steve) Williams of Phoenix, AZ; grandsons Dennis (Connie) Mosqueda of Las Vegas, NV, Matthew (Natalie) Mosqueda of Jupiter, FL, plus Ryan Williams, Josh Williams and Michael Williams, all of Phoenix, AZ. Additionally she is survived by 26 nieces and nephews; 54 great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Lawrence Cornell; parents Charles and Josephine Eckert; brothers John Eckert, Martin Eckert and George Eckert; sisters Mary Flood, Josephine Eckert Huber, Bernadette Eckert, Eloisa Branch, Charlotte Robertson and Bernadette Beals. For 30 years Margaret operated Flair Finishing School and Modeling Agency, which was honored as "School of the Year" by the International Fashion Modeling Association (IFMA). Margaret served a term as President of the IFMA as well as a term as President of the Private School Association. An avid tennis player, Margaret was a founding member of the Tennis Club of Albuquerque and she twice won State Championships in doubles tennis. Her civic endeavors included her work with Bruce and Alice King on the Boys and Girls Ranch of NM, as well as President of the Albuquerque Civic Symphony Women's Association, Member of the Board of Albuquerque T-VI (now CNM) and instructor at UNM Community College. Margaret was a long-time parishioner at St. Bernadette's Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and taught CCD. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, May 17, 2010, 10:00 a.m., at St. Francis Cathedral, 131 Cathedral Pl, Santa Fe, NM. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Williams, John Eckert, Oscar Huber, Greg Flynn, Danny Maxwell, Larry Luper, Javier Magana.
