Obituary for MORRIS

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday May 09, 2010

William (Billy) Morris, beloved husband and father, and long time resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away in the early morning of May 5, 2010. Born on March 20, 1918, Billy was always interested in music and began playing the trumpet at 15 years of age. Billy started working at his father's nightclub in Detroit and continued until he hit the road like so many musicians of those days. His musical adventures have opened the door to many life-long friendships as well as gigs with some of America's great entertainers. Billy's career, as of his latest recording, spans seventy-one years. His list of friends and music associates reads like a Who's Who of American Entertainment. Billy is also listed in the Big Band Academy of America's Hall of Fame for trumpet players. He is survived by his wife; five children; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many good friends. Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, 2621 Vermont NE, Albuquerque, NM. Memorial Mass will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. Please visit our online guestbook for Billy at www.RememberTheirStory.com French 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE (505) 823-9400
