Obituary for HOPPER

Carol N. Hopper, 66, and a resident of Albuquerque, died on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 after courageously living with cancer for 25 years. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Kenneth of Albuquerque; two daughters, India Crawford and her husband, Rodney of Crofton, Maryland and Herrin Hopper and her husband, Richard Pournelle of Silver Spring, Maryland; two granddaughters, Christiana Crawford and Ruth Pournelle; two sisters, Julie Edwards of Granite Bay, California and Nancy Newman of Oro Valley, Arizona; two nephews and two nieces. Mrs. Hopper held four degrees, including a Ph.D. from Michigan State University. After a brief tenure in higher education, she worked for Exxon Corporation for six years, followed by a career as a labor/management consultant for major corporations and smaller companies throughout the United States. The Hoppers moved to Albuquerque in April 2008, to broaden their deep appreciation for Hispanic and Native American cultures. Mrs. Hopper was the President of the Board of Directors of Chatter, A Chamber Ensemble, which performs 20th and 21st century music; a former board member of Chamber Music Albuquerque; and a volunteer for the YWCA. Memorial services on the East Coast and in Albuquerque are being planned.
