Obituary for EDMONDS

George F. Edmonds, 81, a resident of Rio Rancho since May of 2006, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2010. He was born May 10, 1928 in Tillery, NC, a son of George and Queen Victoria Edmonds. He received his education from Shady Grove Elementary School, Tillery, NC; Halifax County Training School, Weldon, NC; a Bachelor's Degree from Hampton Institute, Hampton, VA; Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study, Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT; and a PHD in Applied Mathematics from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA. He taught mathematics at Sam Houston High School, Huntsville, TX from 1950-53; was director of Mathematics, K-12 in Glastonbury, CT and Hingham, MA; he wrote text books and trained teachers in Nairobi, Kenya for three years; was a professor of Mathematics at Elizabeth State University, Elizabeth City, NC and at Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA. Survivors include his wife and two children, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. Mr. Edmonds served as a First Lieutenant in the US Army.
