Obituary for CARSON

Donald "Don" G. Carson passed away on April 4, 2010. Don was born in Washington D.C. January 31, 1930 the son of Wilford and Persis Carson. He is survived by his wife Betty of Albuquerque; son Gary Carson, wife Karen and their son Tyler of Golden, CO; daughter Terry Edwards, husband William (Bill) of Burns, OR, and their children Joshua and Nicole of Boise, ID; daughter Linda Creer of Petaluma, CA, and her children Nathan of Petaluma and Rebecca of Norwalk, CA; brother Russell Carson of Grand Junction, CO; and brother Roger Carson and wife Dianne of Stone Mountain, GA. Don was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Gary. Don was blessed with three great grandchildren (Tyler, Ryan and Kiley). Don joined the Air Force in 1950, and spent three years in Alaska as a photographer and Editor of the Base newspaper. While in Fairbanks he met and married Betty. They had been married 58 years at his death. Don said he was able to do almost everything he ever wanted to do in life. He photographed hunting expeditions in Africa, did solar research at Sacramento Peak Observatory, Sunspot, NM, observed solar annular eclipses for NASA in Kheur Souce, Senegal; Oudtshoorn, South Africa and ChaingMai, Thailand determining the precise shape of the moon prior to the first lunar orbiters. He enjoyed fishing wherever he lived. He helped to design and build the first production solar telescopes built in the United States. Don was a business owner and entrepreneur in Albuquerque beginning in 1979. He formed Sagebrush Technology Inc., inventing a novel rotary drive system (the Roto-Lok rotary drive) and managed that firm until it was sold in 1999. He retired in 2000. Don accepted Christ as his Savior and will be spending eternity in glory with Him. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Presbyterian Home Care and Hospice caregivers who gave expert advice and special care.
