Verna E. Stiers, 81, resident of Billings, MT, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010 after a short illness. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Donald Stiers; two loving daughters, Judy Gossett and husband, Russell of Albuquerque, and Shelley Pacheco and husband, Victor of Olympia, WA; two granddaughters, Whitney and Jessica Pacheco; and two great-grandsons, James and Jason Kirk. She was born to Rhea and Vernon Starkey of Lapeer, MI. Verna moved to Albuquerque in 1963 until moving to El Paso in 1976. She lived there until 1997 when she took up residence in Billings, Montana where she has been for the last 13 years besides spending the past two winters in New Mexico. Services will be held Friday, April 9, 2010, at 1:00 p.m., at French - Westside Chapel. Private interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
