Obituary for BOHN

Lt. Col. Frank LeRoy Bohn, USAF Ret. died March 23, 2010 at his home in Escazu, Costa Rica at the age of 89, leaving a legacy of his dedication to the pursuit of knowledge, education, hard work, and commitment to family. He married Marian Elizabeth Duggan February 16, 1943. She preceded him in death July 26, 1989. He married Alice Centeno Martin of San Jose, Costa Rica May 14, 1994. Frank is survived by his wife, Alice Bohn; children, Barbara (Greg) Canavan of Los Alamos, NM, Marilyn (Tilford) Harp of Albuquerque, NM, Kristi (Robert) McHugh of Prescott, AZ, Roy (Laura) Bohn of Los Alamos, NM; grandchildren John Canavan, Heather Canavan, Erik Harp, Adam Harp, Shawn McHugh, Jessie Bohn; great- grandchildren, Saeble Harp, McKynah Harp; his sisters, Alice Veazie, Gloria (Frances) Lorette; step-children, Christian Hangen, Ingrid (Jordi) Triquell, Erika (Edgardo) Gamboa; step-grandchildren, Montserrat Triquell, Santiago Triquell, Rafael Aguilar, Javier Gamboa, Daniel Gamboa; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Hazel Wadsworth; and his parents, Frederick and Hazel (Learned) Bohn. Frank lived an amazing life. He was born in Hackensack, New Jersey May 9, 1920 and graduated from Rockland HS, Maine. Throughout his distinguished Air Force career, he served as a fighter pilot during WW II, as Operations Officer for the 512th Fighter Interceptor Squadron in England, implemented the USAF Academy Air Field for cadet training, and worked in base operations in many states, England, and Vietnam. He retired from Kirtland Air Base in Albuquerque and resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico until moving to Costa Rica. Frank leaves behind a far-reaching community of family and friends who cherished his wit, his stories of unusual life experiences, his gift of solving any problem, and dedication to those he loved. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Memorial contributions may be made to a children's or veteran's charity of choice in Frank's name.
