Shirley Davidson Allen, 86, a resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, March 27, 2010. She is survived by her two sisters, Margaret D. Lyon and Reba D. Roberson and husband, Coda, all of Albuquerque; nieces and nephews, Camille Myers, Claudia Lyon, Cheryl Touryan, Alice Higbie, Kathleen Willadsen, O'Lynne Nation, Karl Thomas, Dava Ong, Corvin Thomas, Neva Coffee and Tamela Thomas; great-nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Dean Allen; brother, Elvyn Davidson who was killed in WWII; sister, Laura Nation; and a dear friend, Art De Bolder. She was born on July 18, 1923 in Albuquerque and graduated from Albuquerque High in 1940. Shirley attended UNM for a while before entering the United States Marine Corps in 1944. After her honorable discharge from the Marines, she married Dean Allen and lived in California until after his death. Shirley moved back to Albuquerque in 1990. She was a member of Hoffmantown Church, Cosmopolitan Women's Club, and several other clubs and organizations. Shirley loved to dance and had a great love for all dogs. She was the most generous and sweetest person and her smile would just light up a room. Shirley was a loving sister and aunt and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at Hoffmantown Church, Small Chapel, 8888 Harper Rd. NE, Thursday, April 1, 2010, 10:00 a.m. Private interment of cremated remains will take place at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
