Obituary for MAURER

John David Maurer (Dave), 75, passed away peacefully in Albuquerque on March 24, 2010. Dave had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1964 where he successfully operated several small businesses, the last being Top Gun Auto Sales. Dave was also a statistician for the Lobos in football and basketball for many years. Dave felt that his most crowning achievement was finding Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1968,. He close friends number far too may to name, however Jim Valerio, Manuel Gonzales and Raymond Sanchez went far beyond any calling to aid in Dave's transition. Survivors include his sister, Ruthe Anne; brother-in-law Pete Moss; nieces Ann (Matt) Jackie, Stephanie (Hester), Candy (Michael) and Hillary (Jim); nephews, Gavin and Dirk (Linda; and their families; cousins, Betty Ann and Steve (Shirley). Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Edwin; brother, Edwin Jr. and cousin, Hazel. Also thanks to Drs. Purdy and Ordelano for their care. Vista Care, who gave Dave such wonderful care and love; thank you Rosie, Karen, Desiree, Molly and April. Thank you Barry for the support and comfort you showed Dave and the cribbage games. Dave, have a dynamite day! We love you and you will be missed. Thank you to all the Valerio family who took Uncle Dave into their lives and loved him as one of their own. At this time, no arrangements have been made for services at Dave's request. Burial will take place at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery at as early date as can be accommodated. A memorial celebration of life will take place at a later date. Thanks to Direct Services for your support and care.
